Amoore wins Paradigm; 'Dynamic' consultant runs 3 businesses
By
Regina Medina
As far
as businesswomen go, entrepreneur Renee Amoore is the paradigm
of a successful one.
So it's
a natural fit for Amoore - founder of The Amoore Group,
a consultative and management services provider - to receive
the annual Paradigm Award bestowed by the Greater Philadelphia
Chamber of Commerce for "her personal and professional
contributions."
Amoore,
50, was honored yesterday at the Crystal Tea Room in the
Wanamaker Building where government and private-sector officials
such as Chamber President Mark Schweiker and Tiffany Watkins,
a Bush administration representative, talked of her business
and civic accomplishments.
"It
was absolutely fabulous and incredible," said Amoore
of the event, which she estimates that some 600 people attended.
"She's
so dynamic and has three businesses. She went from being
a nurse in Harlem to running several businesses," said
Terry D'Alessandro, chair of the Paradigm Award Selection
Committee and Sovereign Bank's division president for Pennsylvania.
The
Amoore Group provides services to corporate businesses,
health, behavioral health and human services agencies.
Not
only do Paradigm Award recipients achieve, they also give
back to the community, D'Alessandro said.
Amoore
- who is married to Joseph Amoore with whom she has a daughter,
Cherie Amoore, 19, - is the deputy chief of the state GOP.
She has participated in outreach efforts to get African-Americans
involved in the political process.
"I've
always been on a mission to make sure that the Republican
Party is not a white-dominated party [and to] pull more
minorities into the party," said Amoore, a registered
nurse with a master's degree in counseling and administration.
"We
need to be involved with policy such as Medicaid and Medicare.
We have to have a seat in the table...," she said.
